It used to be, and still is in modern versions of the game, a common occurrence for the caller to use witty slang when calling numbers in a bingo game. The slang uses a specific rhyme scheme; for instance, if the caller had to call out number 10 in a bingo game today, he may say ‘Gordon’s den, number ten.’, as a reference to 10 Downing Street.
