Positive future for UK Bingo Industry despite recession
The most recent report on the UK bingo industry published by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) suggests that the recession has probably not affected the UK bingo industry as was anticipated.
Despite the increased duty that has been levied on bingo, the industry is believed to be performing better than expected. The report has left traditional bingo operators optimistic because compared to bookmakers and casinos, the bingo industry is better equipped at dealing with the global economic downturn.
Bingo hall operators have claimed that since the game has a lot of appeal it will easily pass this difficult economic phase. The Manager of a Yorkshire Gala Bingo club, Wayne Bousfield said that people are sure to keep playing bingo even during the recession because bingo halls have been reducing their prices and it is a release from the troubles and woes of everyday life.
The PwC report states that the revenues generated by the UK bingo industry may fall this year, but only by 5 percent. When compared to gambling options like casinos and betting, the bingo industry has shown much more resilience. Regardless of the severe global recession, indications of a positive future for the UK’s land based bingo can be seen through the opening of new bingo halls.
