National gambling study reveals online bingo play steady
According to the quarterly survey conducted by the UK Gambling Commission, it revealed that online gambling habits amongst the online bingo sites have maintained their share in the market. According to the survey by a market research firm, ICM Omnibus, 1.1% people played bingo in the previous month.
Among online betting activity, it was the sixth most popular following The National Lottery draw (7.1%), National Lottery scratchcards (2.4%), sports betting (2.4%), poker (1.7%) and lotteries (1.7%). The overall figure of people that gambled online rose considerably to 9.7%. Among the 8,000 adults that were surveyed said that they either gambled online via the internet, through interactive TV or via a mobile phone in the past month.
The Gambling Commission believed that the increase is up by 8.8% from 2007. Also there was a considerable increase in the number of women that play remotely. This rose from 6.0% in 2007 to 7.8% in 2008. The figures imply that the growth of bingo market may have slowed, but the online operators propose that the participation of people in online bingo is increasing steadily.
