Mecca Bingo Announce Winner of Mecca’s Got Talent!
Mecca Bingo, as you may recall recently held a competition called Mecca’s Got Talent. The Mecca Bingo competition was searching for starts of the future and was aimed at members of the public. Mecca Bingo wanted the public and bingo players to audition at their local Mecca bingo clubs across the country. As well as the localised auditions, Mecca Bingo also opened up the competition further, by allowing contestants to audition online and the public picking their favourite acts.
Mecca’s Got Talent Final…..
Well, on Saturday the 4th of September all ten of the final acts took a trip to Mecca Bingo in Bilston to perform for one last time, before the winner would eventually be announced. Mecca Bingo were surprised with the amazing response they had for the final, as over 1,000 Mecca Bingo players came along to support the acts and those visiting were then part of the audience. Lorraine Kelly of GMTV fame, hosted the event whilst Elaine Hunt (owner of talent agency Stagepalm), Stavros Flatley (of Britain’s Got Talent fame) and Duncan Norvelle (a comedian) made up the panel of judges.
And the Winner Is…..
The judges had a hard job on their hands, but eventually they decided to crown 24 year old singer Heather Hughes from Wrexham the overall winner. Heather entered the competition online and on the night sang Faith Hill’s beautiful song ‘There You’ll Be’, which was written for the hit film Pearl Harbour. Heather said the following regarding her win: “When Lorraine announced I was the national winner I didn’t know whether to scream, cry or faint I was so shocked. Months ago when I entered the competition I just hoped I’d get the chance to perform at the Club Finals never mind get to the national final or even win it. This is probably one of the most exciting things to have ever happened to me and I honestly don’t know when it will sink in”
Heather will now be given the chance of a lifetime to perform at Blue Square Bet Premier Play-Off Final in May 2011, as well as bagging herself a £3,000 cash prize – Congratulations Heather from all of the gang at Sunlight Bingo.
