A bingo loving bride-to-be, has had a bit of a disappointment recently over her planned nuptials. The bride in question, 28 year old Suzanne Latta entered an online bingo competition run by Online Bingo Club which offered a prize of £5,000 to put towards the lucky winner’s wedding. Unfortunately for Suzanne, winning the Bingo Bride Competition prize turns out to be far easier than being able to use the cash for her dream church wedding. The vicar of Glenmuick Church where Suzanne and fiancé Matt had planned to have their wedding, has pulled the plug as he does not believe that promoting gambling in the church using the bingo site logo is appropriate.
Part of the qualifying criteria to receive the £5k prize money, was for pictures to be taken with the Bride and Groom sporting the Online Bingo Club logo on their outfits. Sadly with Rev Tony Watts digging his heels in over the photos, the happy couple from Newcastle-under-Lyme might not be so happy after all! Rob Hutchison of Online Bingo club is particularly disappointed as he felt the photos would be just a “bit of harmless fun”.
It seems that Suzanne and Matt still intend to marry, with or without the Online Bingo Club prize money. However unless the disapproving vicar of the proposed wedding venue in Ballater in Scotland has a change of heart over the bingo site logo issue, they will have a serious shortfall in their wedding budget.
The Bingo Bride Competition closed on 30th June and over 100 couples applied to take part. All of those entering agreed to having the bingo site logo displayed at their wedding on menu’s, table settings, invites and not forgetting on the Bride and Groom’s clothes and shoes. Competition applicants were required to send a small written piece on why they wanted to become the first bingo bride with some photos.
