Manchester’s famous theatre, the Royal Exchange, will be shortly staging a new play set against the attractive backdrop of a bingo hall. The first performance of the new play “Everybody Loves a Winner”, written by Neil Bartlett, will be enacted on Friday July 3. The Royal Exchange is undergoing a major renovation for the play, which will also be staged at the Manchester International Festival this summer. The theatre’s interior is being given the look of a regular bingo hall.

The former Coronation street star and TV actress, Sally Lindsay will perform in the play. Lindsay has become a big fan of bingo since she joined the production of “Everybody Loves a Winner”.

She found the whole experience of going in, paying her money, getting a cup of coffee and just playing the game, extremely fascinating. For her, the coordination involved in filling in a number of cards simultaneously was unbelievable! Lindsay admits that she was never interested in bingo before, but now she loves it.

According to Alex Poots, the Director of the Manchester International Festival the new play is a fine combination of music, drama, comedy and choreography in the much loved pastime.

TV star Ian Puleston-Davies is playing role of a bingo caller and the music is composed by Simon Deacon. The play will run for the full month at the Royal Exchange.
