On 16th January, South Lanarkshire Council took Soraya to court, within days of the seizure of her £150,000 home being granted. The Bank of Scotland gained permission to seize Lowell’s home by a sheriff. At court, the council’s legal representation wanted 40 year old Soraya and her husband Frankie to be made bankrupt due to their debts of £13,214, with Soraya owing £6,526 and Frankie owing £6,888. There was a further £381 each that was demanded for legal costs. The sheriff present chose to delay the case until next month after evidence was given that the couple are trying to find a way out of their predicament.
